Vacation Time!

Last week we returned from our vacation to Jamaica and Miami. It was a nice getaway! We went to a Sandals resort - White House. It is in a very remote location and we needed to drive an hour and a half from the Montego Bay airport in order to get to the hotel. I was dreading that drive at first but I am glad we did it. Since White House is so secluded, anything worth doing was at least an hour drive. We didn't want to spend our time driving all week, so we stayed at the resort for the majority of the time. That drive to and from the airport let me see the Jamaican culture, and I am thankful that we were able to see at least a little bit. The resort had plenty of activities - we went kayaking, sailing on the Hobie Cats, played pool, and even had a fun game of Bingo. :) We met two Atlanta friends at the resort - so it was a great way to relax and also visit with each other. They spent a lot of their mornings scuba diving - Matt had a camera that could go under water, so their pictures were very nice. :) One night the resort held a beach party, which included a fireblower and a professional limbo athelete. It was entertaining! We visited the martini bar on the resort a few times, and they hosted piano sing alongs (which Laurie loves and knows all the songs!). The food was great and we had more than our share of frozen drinks. :)

On our way back from Jamaica we stopped off at Miami for a few days to visit Jeff's family. It was great to see everyone and stay longer than a couple days. We visited his parents' chocolate store and met their employees - Jeff's brother, Matt, works there as well as an assistant manager. We were able to visit with relatives - Jeff's uncle, his grandparents, and his great aunt. One afternoon we had lunch with Jeff's good friend from high school - Emily. Her boyfriend made it to the lunch as well and it was great to finally meet her.The last day we went to South Beach with the family - it was very hot, as expected, but I was still trying to adjust to the humidity. We had a great time and it all flew by so quickly.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their summer! :) I can't believe it's almost August!!
